Renovation of our 1930’s semi in North London. Work started May 2017.
Hoarding is up, and demolition of the garage started…someone quite likes the JCB!
We now have our very own bridge!! and lots of mud…the kids loved digging for bits of ceramics and ‘treasure’…how did it all get there?!
Foundations dug, and steels/cement going in…Mr A surveys the work in progress!
June – we move out, brickies move in
Demolition of my poor kitchen….aarrgghhhh!
Meanwhile, out the front tons of sand has been delivered and a lot of rubbish is piling up!
Demolition of the kitchen/dining room wall continues inside, and the back extension is built
July – hoarding comes down, crap is cleared, ground flattened and concrete poured!
Scaffolding goes up…time for the roof to come off…scary!!
Work begins internally upstairs…
Its summer, yet we have rain…and we have puddles arrgghhhh!
August- loft in progress internally
Loving the amazing view from the loft!!
Back downstairs, the black bi-fold doors and windows are installed…nice
September – loft insulation, velux windows & plaster board installed
Plasterboard going up on walls downstairs too….
Underfloor heating laid, and flooring screed
Lovely massive sliding windows fitted in loft- woohoo!
October – ‘Diy Kitchens’ kitchen delivered and fitted
After much discussion we finally opted for monochrome BCT ‘Henry’ tiles for the kitchen area.
Upstairs, the loft ensuite is being tiled (more BCT tiles) and Vitra bathtub plumbed in.
We now have a new brick wall out the front…
…and lights/ new grey patio slabs out the back.
Marble-effect granite worktop and Carron Phoenix stainless steel sink installed.
November – lots of plastering, sanding and painting…plus the little loo is taking shape.
Bespoke dressing room and storage in the loft under construction.
LED spotlights going in everywhere.
The new ensuite’s are taking shape with Mira digital showers and Vitra Nest basins & bogs!
Due to finish in 2 weeks time but still so much to do?!!
December – Our bedroom & bathroom are being used as a dumping ground…bedroom ceiling has been repaired (where water came through roof in July!), and painted.
Sam’s bedroom ceiling finally plaster- boarded after the rain came through roof in July! Mia’s room nearly finished.
Will we be home for Christmas….I’m not so sure, so I’ve started packing a few festive essentials like Christmas jumpers and hats!
Our lovely Heals ‘Olson’ smoked glass pendant lights are hung and ‘Whirly Willis’ bulbs fitted in the kitchen.
